I decided to run for school trustee because I wanted our kids to be fully prepared for the technological economy that they will enter. The fact is that work has changed. Our kids can’t expect to stay at the same job for forty years and the pace of change is moving more quickly than ever before.
It is essential that our education system adapts and builds the type of capacities that will allow our kids to succeed in the new economy. Entrepreneurship, critical thinking, collaboration, communication skills, technological literacy, as well as strong literacy and numeracy capacities, are essential.
As Trustee, I’ve worked to increase internet service, to have more coding added to the Ontario curriculum, provided funding for robotics teams, funded laptops in eight of our high schools, and provided funding for the type of tech tools teachers need to build technological capacity in our students.
In addition, I have fought to increase safety by fighting to have Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) added to our schools and to improve safety in school zones by lowering speed limits and increasing the number of traffic measures.
My promise has been to do my very best in this job and to make myself available to you and your family if you need me. So far, I have fulfilled that promise and for anyone who is trying to reach me here is my cell number: 226-7007095. I can’t promise that I will answer right away but I will always get back to you.
